About the Event
Bray Pit is a small nature reserve off the A308 between Bray Sailing Lake and the M4. In the summer the meadow is a glorious mass of wild flowers. The land is owned by Summerleaze and until a few years ago it was leased by BBOWT (https://www.bbowt.org.uk). Although BBOWT no longer hold the lease they are still happy to lend us hay rakes and tarpaulins. The meadow will be mown a couple of days before the 26th and Summerleaze are assisting with the hire of a power scythe for this. Sunday's task is to rake off the mowings. We do this to reduce the nutrients in the soil to encourage the wild flowers to grow and discourage coarse grasses. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we won't be providing refreshments this year. No need to book on Meetup, but if you do it will help us to ensure that we have enough tools.
