Waltham Place Organic Garden - a talk
Time & Location
About the Event
Maidenhead's very own Waltham Place is one of the world's most famous organic gardens. Come to a talk at Braywick Nature Centre on Friday 17th January to find out about this amazing wildlife haven.
The gardens are run entirely without the use of chemicals and nature conservation is paramount, so the estate has a great profusion of wildlife. As a journalist wrote, "Wherever you walk there is the contented buzz of insects, butterflies, bees, dragonflies, birds". In 2019, for example, at least six Wasp Spiders were found, one of Wild Maidenhead's target species in its Biodiversity Action Plan. They also have several wild honeybee colonies in trees, chimneys and log hives.
This talk about the gardens is being given by Niki McCann, a long-time member of the senior team at Waltham Place. It's at Braywick Nature Centre where there is plenty of parking and also bike racks. The event is free to paid-up members of Wild Maidenhead or a £3 donation is suggested for non-members, or you can join on the evening for £5 and have membership through to the end of January 2021.
