Biodiversity Action Plan

Between 2016 and 2019, realising that the Royal Borough did not have a plan of action to increase biodiversity, Wild Maidenhead wrote a Biodiversity Action Plan for the Maidenhead area and discussed it with the Council. We have been delivering the projects in our plan since 2017 and that work continues.

We have also been working with Windsor and Maidenhead Council, and the other community wildlife groups in the borough, to develop a borough-wide plan. We were delighted that this RBWM Biodiversity Action Plan was adopted  at a Cabinet meeting in December 2022.

Wild Maidenhead is keen to work with landowners, the council, community groups and anyone else who can help deliver the plan.

RBWM Biodiversity Action Plan – December 2022

The RBWM Biodiversity Action Plan aims to provide 30% of land in the borough as a space for nature by 2030 - in line with the national Wildlife Trusts ‘30 by 30’ campaign.

The Borough BAP, partly based on our Local Biodiversity Action Plan for Maidenhead, sets out an action plan covering the next four years and was jointly developed with local wildlife and conservation groups with input from the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT). Feedback was also sought from residents as well as the borough’s farming community.
